Nut Policy

CakeDrop Nut Policy

1. Policy Statement
At CakeDrop, we are committed to managing the risk of nut contamination and providing clear, accurate information to our customers regarding nuts.

We do not use nuts or nut-containing ingredients in our recipes. However, our ingredients are sourced from approved suppliers that may handle nuts and we operate from a building shared with other food businesses that may handle nuts. As such, we cannot guarantee that our products are completely free from traces of nuts.

2. Scope
This policy applies to:

All staff involved in food preparation, handling, and packing

All staff responsible for purchasing ingredients and managing suppliers

All products supplied by CakeDrop, including those produced in-house and those sourced from approved suppliers

All customer communications relating to allergen information

3. Nut-Free Recipe Approach

No nuts or nut-derived ingredients are used in any product recipes

Recipes are designed to avoid nuts across the range

No nuts or nut-derived ingredients are handled or stored within our production space

4. Cross-Contamination Risk

Nuts are not used or handled within our production space, however, as ingredients are sourced from approved suppliers who may handle nuts, there is a potential risk of trace contamination within the supply chain.

We operate from a shared facility at Karma Kitchen Wimbledon, where common areas such as access points and porter services are used by multiple food businesses.

While nuts are not used or handled within our own contained production area, there is a potential risk of trace contamination through shared access routes and handling within the wider facility.

To minimise this risk, all ingredients are stored securely, products are kept sealed where appropriate, and food safety and hygiene practices are followed at all times.

5. Approved Supplier Controls

All ingredients are sourced from approved suppliers who meet our food safety standards

Supplier approval includes review of relevant food safety information, including food hygiene ratings where applicable

Ingredients are assessed at product level based on manufacturer allergen information, regardless of the retailer from which they are purchased

Ingredient and allergen information is reviewed based on product labelling and specifications at the point of purchase

Particular attention is given to allergen information, including any “may contain nuts” statements, to assess potential nut contamination risk

6. Allergen Information

Clear allergen information is provided in line with UK requirements, on each product page at the point of order and with every delivery

Additional information is available on request

7. Customer Guidance

While we do not use nuts in our recipes, we cannot guarantee products are completely nut-free due to supply chain and shared building risks. Products may not be suitable for individuals with severe nut allergies.

8. Staff Training
