Operations Manager - £38,000 - £40,000 p/a

CakeDrop is an award-winning supplier of branded treats for businesses, with a customer base including the likes of Meta, Netflix, and WeWork.

Having recently moved into a brand-new bakery space in Wimbledon, we’re seeking an ambitious Operations Manager to join us at an exciting stage of our journey.

This role will be responsible for day-to-day operations, ensuring a seamless process from the moment a customer places their order to receiving their delivery. This includes overseeing production and managing a small but growing bakery team. The role will require working primarily from our CPU in Wimbledon, nestled in among a community of burgeoning food businesses, with some flexibility to work from home when the production schedule allows. 

Our ideal candidate is highly organised, pragmatic, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role is ideal for someone with previous ops experience in food production and is eager to take on the challenge of working in a start-up business, with the opportunity to shape and develop their role as the business grows.

We’re looking for a dynamic, process-driven individual who can adeptly manage spreadsheets and online systems, but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves when required.

You’ll be reporting directly to the co-founder and CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bakery Operations Management: Oversee the end-to-end process from order placement to delivery. Ensure seamless production, meeting customer expectations on quality and timelines.
  • Stock & Order Management: Monitor daily stock requirements, manage suppliers, and oversee weekly stock takes. Ensure order fulfilment is timely, including coordinating couriers for both courier and postal deliveries.
  • Team Leadership: Manage the bakery team, including staffing, training, and daily production scheduling. Provide ongoing leadership, conduct regular team meetings, and ensure a productive and motivated work environment.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, and COSHH regulations, maintaining high bakery standards and up-to-date documentation.
  • Finance & Budgeting: Monitor inventory costs, track wastage, and collaborate with the Finance Director to maintain product margins and manage team budgets.
  • Other Responsibilities: Collaborate with sales teams on customer inquiries, contribute to product development, and assist with new product ranges aligned with customer needs and business strategy.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience in an operations role.
  • Highly organised with excellent pragmatic problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership ability, with experience managing people.
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Ability to work under pressure and identify potential issues proactively.
  • Ability to commute to Wimbledon.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Shopify or similar platforms.
  • Experience in e-commerce business operations.
  • Experience in food production.

Salary: £38-40K p/a

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (core hours). Overtime may be required on busier days. Weekend shifts are rare but may occasionally be available.

Baker & Decorator - £14 per hour, 30-40 hours per week

CakeDrop is on the lookout for a creative multi-skilled Baker & Decorator to become a core member of our team during an exciting phase of growth.

We are a specialist bakery that creates unique branded and themed treats for businesses. Voted ‘Supplier of the year’ at the Office Management Awards three years running, our customers include Disney, HelloFresh, LADBible and Meta.

You’ll be responsible for baking, decorating and packaging treats for a variety of corporate occasions - from workplace events to brand activations. Every brief is unique and no two days are the same. The schedule varies - on busy days it’s all hands to the plough, and on quieter days we pro-actively get ahead with prep work for the days and weeks ahead.

You’ll be working in a small but growing team, producing a range of treats including (but not limited to) cupcakes, brownies, cookies, biscuits, lollipops & meringue. You’ll have the opportunity to work with buttercream, ganache, fondant, candy melt & chocolate, and be given the freedom to create custom decorations that bring our customers' brands to life.

As well as daily custom briefs, you'll be involved in regularly developing new products for our popular seasonal collections.


Requirements:

  • At least 1 years experience within a professional bakery
  • Multi-skilled with experience working with different types of products and equipment (trained pastry chef desirable)
  • Exceptional piping skills and ability to decorate with strong attention to detail
  • Strong eye for detail and the ability to visualise and spot subtle nuances and intricacies in colour and design
  • Strong work ethic and pro-active can-do attitude
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure and at speed
  • Experience following bakery schedules and working to deadlines
  • Tidy and organised with knowledge of stock rotation and labelling practices
  • Ability to work in a small and growing team
  • Fluency in English - spoken and written
  • Solid understanding of food safety and HACCP Principles
  • Ability to commute to Wimbledon
