10 signs it’s December in the office

December is a special time of year in the office. And by ‘special’ we mean predictably quirky. Love it or hate it, here are some telltale signs you’ve nosedived into the last month of the year.
  1. Heart Christmas Radio takes over the airways. Requesting anything else makes you a subversive Christmas denier.
  2. The battle for last minute annual leave commences. HR are flooded with last minute holiday requests despite having sent weekly reminders since July. Some people never learn…
  3. The dress code degenerates. People sit in scarves all day, Uggs boot appear under desks and Patricia in accounts starts donning her infamous dangly Christmas tree earrings.
  4. School nativity plays become the 2nd biggest reason for employee absence… after hangovers.
  5. The Christmas sandwich committee reconvenes to trial and review everything that’s on offer this year.
  6. Tasks start migrating to your 2020 to-do list.
  7.  ‘See you next year!’ becomes the standard sign off from every last client meeting.
  8. The mail room starts to look like an Amazon sorting center. You start wondering how you’re going to transport all that Xmas shopping home…
  9. Christmas party gossip becomes everyone’s favourite procrastination. Comparing outfits, placing bets on who is going to end their career and discussing post-party scandals.
  10. One by one, heads start disappearing from desks until all that is left is handful of Christmas Eve-ers passing round the keyboard spray and hoping for an early finish.
